For Urban Knights, Rebhan will discuss the outcomes of “Welcome Goodbye”, which examines how over the last 10 years, the tourist numbers in Berlin have exploded. “Welcome Goodbye” gives a voice to the numerous different people affected by these recent developments, presenting both the positive and negative side effects of Berlin’s increasing popularity as a tourist destination.

Biography

Nana Rebhan is a German documentary film maker, who studied at DFFB (Film & TV Academy Berlin). Her main works include “Berlin Hasenheide” (2010) which explores community uses of the Hasenheide park and “Welcome Goodbye” (2014) about the tourist industry in Berlin. At the time of writing (2016), Rebhan is in postproduction for her latest piece “Prima Mallorca” (working title), which follows 40 long term, unemployed people living in Germany who travel to the Spanish Island of Mallorca. There they spend 12 weeks on a government supported rehabilitation programme, where they explore new approaches to life. With the aim to return, refreshed to Germany, prepared to search for a new job.
