Biography
Freyja Lockwood C.ErgHF MIEHF, FRSA joined Bristol City Council in 2018 to lead the City Innovation Team. She has delivered Bristol’s new Smart City Strategy which provides the vision and strategic direction for the Council’s Smart City programme. She advocates a people-centred philosophy to technology-driven change so that ‘smart’ technology is applied to address real-world city challenges, provide world-class public services and deliver better outcomes for people in Bristol and the wider region.
Prior to her role with Bristol Council, Freyja successfully led the delivery of contract research, advice and consultancy to a diverse international client-base across industry, government, and academia. Most recently Freyja was a leading member of QinetiQ’s Insights Team providing thought leadership, strategic foresight and investigating how industry and government sectors are being reshaped by disruptive innovation and global strategic trends.
Freyja is a Chartered member of the Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors, a member of the South West Creative Technology Network (SWCTN) Steering Board and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
