Theodore Ullrich

Theodore (Ted) will give an introduction to the philosophy and practice of Tomorrow Lab ®, and describe 3 products relating to urban transit, developed internally at Tomorrow Lab: Way Count, Hi Viz and 24 Share It Gold. These products in particular get to the heart of Ullrich’s fascination with devices which improve the citizen’s access to and study of the city’s transit systems.
Biography
Theodore Ullrich holds a Bachelor of Inventive Design Engineering (BSE) Degree from Purdue University, and a Master of Industrial Design (MID) Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He has also studied architecture and society in Copenhagen, Denmark and around Scandinavia. In 2010, Ted founded Tomorrow Lab®, a New York City based hardware development consultancy that researches, designs, and engineers revolutionary products that steer communities toward a better future. Prior to starting Tomorrow Lab, Ted was the first Industrial Designer and Engineer for Social Bicycles™ an affordable bike share system which puts all mobile communications on the bikes instead of docking stations. He also co-created DoTank:Brooklyn, an action-oriented group of urban planners, architects, and designers who use boot-strapping and guerrilla tactics to bring attention and positive improvements to the local community. In February 2014, Ted and his Tomorrow Lab partners were featured on the cover of the Entrepreneur Magazine, highlighting the rise of a new era of technology product design & engineering companies in the US.
