Biography

Frugal innovation or engineering considers how we can reduce the complexity and costs of a good and its production, without reducing its usability. This philosophy sits at the heart of the Singapore digital company, SpudnikLab, which was cofounded by Saad in 2020. Based on two decades of work and his experiences of repurposing and up-cycling of e-waste and the salvaging functional parts, SpudnikLab explores the effective use of low-cost technologies for learning and education. Saad’s perspective will provide insight into practices with Singapore, as well as the groups more experimental work in new materials.
