Co-founder of the recently Berlin Textile CoCop, Essi Johanna Glomb shares their take on the future of materials and vision for the organisation.

Biography

Textile and materials designer, Essi has worked for a number of research labs and design agencies in Berlin. In 2014, along with Rasa Weber, Essi co-founded the materials based, conceptual design studio Blond & Bieber and in 2023 with Sara Diaz established the Berlin Textile CoCop a co-working, meeting and prototyping space for textile professionals, in Friedrichshain. Prior to founding these organisations, Essi worked for the Textile Prototyping Lab (TPL) the first lab of its kind in Germany to focus on experimenting and implementing, the use of complex textiles in applied contexts. TPL is situated within the DXM (Design and Experimental Material), Research Group in the Textile and Surface Department, weißensee kunsthochschule, Berlin, where Essi graduated with a master degree, in 2017.
