Nicolas Henninger will speed dial through some of EXYZT’s ground-breaking and novel temporary city designs. Capturing the essence of the collectives architectural approach and philosophy, Nicolas will discuss how particular physical, aesthetic and architectural choices embedded within their temporary structures are designed to activate, authentic, community-based experiences.
Biography
Nicolas Henninger is one of the collective’s founding members of EXYZT a collective of five architects who formed in Paris in 2003. EXYZT’s work could be described as “participatory architecture”, which strives to involve different constituencies of the local community in a social network that is invited to inhabit and or co-build a temporary space. Projects include City Island (2010) a temporary rainforest and its lagoon, which was a contribution for “La Noche en Blanco” Madrid, the Southpark Lido (2008), the Dalston Mill (2009) and Dalston Barn (2010), Architecture du RAB, LabiChampi and Metavilla (the inhabitation and adaptation of the French Pavilion for the 2006 Venice Biennale of Architecture).Drawing on their practical experience Nicolas will speak about the learnings encountered while developing hi-profile temporary urban architecture, focusing on the dynamic and nauces of working with local communities and councils.
