Biography

Fiona Shipwright is a writer and editor, originally from London, based in Berlin since 2014. A founding member of the &beyond collective, between 2014–2016 she was an editor for uncube, the digital magazine for architecture and beyond. She has also worked on editorial projects with Ruby Press, transmediale and raumlabor. Her writing has particularly focused on the overlaps between architecture, urbanism and culture. Most recently, she was the editor for Making Futures School, a non-disciplinary learning environment for spatial practices, which took place at Haus der Statistik in September 2019. Fiona holds a BA in Fine Art & Philosophy from the University of Reading and an MA in Critical Writing & Curatorial Practice from Chelsea College of Art & Design. Between 2009–2014 she worked for Phaidon Press in London, on a range of print and digital projects. As well as co-founding the discursive format series Way Too Concrete, exploring aspects of spatial production and representation, Fiona has written for the The Architectural Review, PORT, rhizome, The Wire, Eye on Design and mono.kultur. She is currently working at Haus der Kulturen der Welt as Online Editor of anthropocene.curriculum.org, a long-term initiative that explores frameworks for critical knowledge and education in our contemporary epoch—the Anthropocene.
